Day One: Culinary Delights and City Strolls

We kicked off our Copenhagen adventure by flying in from Manchester Airport, landing in a city brimming with culture and history. Our first stop was the Tivoli Food Hall, conveniently covered by the Copenhagen Card. Here, we sampled a variety of Danish and international dishes, setting the tone for a gastronomic journey.

Next, we visited the Library Round Tower (Rundetaarn), an iconic 17th-century observatory offering panoramic views of the city. Entry is free with the Copenhagen Card, and the climb to the top is a rewarding experience.

Strolling through the heart of Copenhagen, we soaked in the vibrant atmosphere, bustling squares, and picturesque streets. Dinner was a highlight at the Greenhouse Restaurant Vaekst, where we indulged in a tasting menu paired with exquisite orange wine. The innovative dishes and unique wine pairings made for a memorable dining experience.

Our evening ended at Jailhouse Bar, a quirky, prison-themed bar. The cocktails were excellent, and the lively ambiance was a perfect end to our first day in Copenhagen.

Day Two: Exploring Copenhagen’s Rich History and Culture

Day two started with a visit to Christianshavn, a charming district known for its canals and colorful houses. We climbed the Church of Our Saviour, famous for its corkscrew-shaped spire, providing breathtaking views of the city. This attraction, like many others, was included with the Copenhagen Card.

Next, we explored Nyhavn Port, a 17th-century waterfront, canal, and entertainment district. Its vibrant buildings and historic wooden ships create a picturesque setting. The Copenhagen Amber Museum, also free with the Copenhagen Card, offered fascinating insights into the history and significance of amber.

Our journey continued to the Carlsberg Brewery, where we learned about the history of one of Denmark’s most famous beers. The Copenhagen Card covered the entrance fee, making it an easy addition to our itinerary. The Carlsberg Museum and the adjacent Copenhagen Zoo, both included in the card, offered enriching experiences and a deeper understanding of Danish culture and wildlife.

Dinner at Sticks N Sushi was a culinary delight, combining Japanese cuisine with Scandinavian flair. The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and the presentation was impeccable. We ended the evening with martinis and live music at the hotel bar, a relaxing and elegant way to wind down after a day of exploration.

Day Three: A Day Trip to Helsingør and More

Our final day in Denmark began with a train ride to Helsingør, included with the Copenhagen Card. Our first stop was the National Aquarium Denmark, also covered by the card. The aquarium is home to a vast array of marine life and offers interactive exhibits that are both educational and entertaining.

Next, we visited Kronborg Castle, the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The castle’s rich history and stunning architecture were captivating. Entry was free with the Copenhagen Card, making it a must-visit.

Back in Copenhagen, we explored the Designmuseum Denmark, a haven for design enthusiasts. The museum showcases Danish and international design, from furniture to fashion. Entry is included with the Copenhagen Card.

The Medical Museum, offered a unique and intriguing look into the history of medicine, with exhibits ranging from ancient tools to modern advancements. This museum is also included with the Copenhagen Card.

No trip to Copenhagen is complete without seeing the Little Mermaid Statue, an iconic symbol of the city. We visited Nyhavn Port again, this time enjoying a leisurely stroll and the vibrant atmosphere.

Our final dinner was at the Tivoli Food Hall, where we revisited some of our favorite food stalls from the first day. The variety and quality of the food here are impressive, making it a great spot for a casual yet delicious meal.
